About Us

WHO WE ARE

Connecting the African diaspora for shared progress, stronger communities and lasting impact.

African Diaspora United for Development (ADUD) is a U.S.-based nonprofit institution working across communities, sectors and borders to connect people, mobilize expertise, strengthen partnerships and advance practical solutions serving the African diaspora and Africa.

Our Identity

A Diaspora Institution Built to Connect, Mobilize and Advance.

African Diaspora United, Inc. d/b/a African Diaspora United for Development (ADUD) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2014. ADUD is headquartered in Maryland, serves communities across the United States, and maintains an international and Africa-facing mission.

We bring together diaspora communities, institutions, professionals, partners and supporters around practical work in community development, education, health and wellness, civic and leadership engagement, economic opportunity, research, policy, international collaboration and institutional partnership.

Our work begins with connection—but it is designed to lead to action.

ADUD creates pathways for communities and institutions to move from dialogue and shared identity toward programs, partnerships, knowledge, opportunity and measurable public benefit.

How We Work

One Mission. Multiple Pathways to Impact.

ADUD works across community, institutional and international levels. We organize the work so that programs, partnerships, policy, knowledge and engagement reinforce one another rather than operating as isolated activities.

Community-Centered

We begin with the realities of people and communities, building programs and services around practical needs, access, participation and long-term resilience.

Diaspora-Connected

We strengthen relationships across African and African-descended communities while creating channels for expertise, leadership, culture and shared opportunity.

Partnership-Driven

We work with nonprofits, governments, businesses, universities, community institutions and other partners where collaboration can expand reach or capability.

Evidence-Informed

Research, consultation, program learning and documented results help shape priorities, strengthen accountability and improve future decisions.

Institutionally Disciplined

Governance, clear program architecture, responsible stewardship, documentation and operational readiness are treated as essential parts of public impact.

Local-to-Global

ADUD connects domestic community work with international engagement, diaspora partnerships and Africa-facing opportunities without losing local accountability.
